Typical 3Ps Leadership Development Progamme

The Programme

A typical 3P’s leadership development programme consists of 6 x one day modules (ideally with dinner the evening before the first module for review of the pre-work and building the participants as a team so that they can build a strong internal network for the programme and beyond). We have successfully delivered the programme both face to face and virtually.

Participants develop an individual “Up to Something” change project which they present to senior management at the end of the programme (usually late afternoon on the final module and if appropriate, followed by dinner to mark the end of the programme).

The programme is supported by an on-line ‘notice board’ where participants are able to access the workbooks and helpful articles and videos to support the participants’ learning.

We have found it particularly helpful in embedding the learning and getting impact if each participant gets a 45 min virtual 1to1 coaching session in between modules. We have alternatively used group reflective practice circles between modules to help embed learning in a group setting.

We have successfully adapted and delivered this programme for senior executives and middle managers.
We use Steve Radcliffe’s “Leadership Plain and Simple” as the course text.

Topics Covered
This is typically jointly developed with the client to align with their strategic plans, values and specific needs and usually contains topics such as:

  • Leadership approaches and relationship to management

  • What is good and bad leadership

  • Self-awareness - What are your strengths, weaknesses and preferences

  • What’s your Purpose and building a strategy for your area

  • Engaging People - Motivation and how to tap into People’s drives to engage and influence them

  • Communication skills - Having conversations with People to get the best out of these interactions

  • Conflict resolution

  • Creating time to lead

  • Delegation and performance management

  • Managing a Team and Project

  • Creating and managing change

Objectives:
These will be specific for your organisation but typical ones are:
Overall this programme aligns with our value of supporting our staff with excellent management and leadership.
Through the programme we will help participants to:

1. Understand their own strengths and weaknesses and grow themselves
2. Understand how their behaviours affect others and promote collaboration
3. Focus and harness their enthusiasms and those of others
4. Understand what management and leadership is about
5. Understand the 3Ps Model, and how to apply it
6. Manage a team and project effectively
7. Be able to make ethical, and moral decisions bearing in mind diversity and inclusion
8. Improve their communication style in all directions
9. Manage their time effectively to deliver on their goals
10. Lead and manage change whilst innovating
11. Deliver a change project that moves the company forward
12. Build an internal network within the organisation

The format suggested for the programme is a series of one day workshops, each separated by about 6 to 8 weeks. There are benefits to making the first module residential with a dinner the evening before, during which we would have an informal discussion about the programme and their reading of the course text.
It is highly recommended to have virtual coaching sessions of 45 mins for each participant between each module. This also helps each participant to develop and deliver their “Up to Something” change projects.
